The Bradford Theology School is a endeavour run by Leeds School of Theology. The course is open to all and is an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to gain a greater knowledge of God, Scripture and theology. The course will equip, empower and inspire you to think theologically and to read, study and apply God’s Word in a deeper and life-transforming way.
It is accessible to everyone; simple enough to be grasped, yet deep enough to be challenging. Students are encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions and think for themselves. It provides a safe and nurturing environment in which students can have their thinking stretched, grapple with issues and grow in their faith. The course gives you a solid grounding in biblical theology, a deeper understanding of church history and an opportunity to grow in your own personal sense of calling. If you are hungry to go deeper into God’s Word and theological study then don’t miss this opportunity. The course runs January- December over ten Saturday sessions.
If you are interested in going deeper in God’s word or learning more about how to read, understand and apply the bible this is for you. The course can be completed alongside other family, work or study commitments allowing you to benefit while remaining accessible and affordable.Topics
The Bradford Theology School aims to give you a broad understanding of the basics of Christian Theology. The type of subjects you will look at are hermeneutics (how to interpret Scripture), Intro to Old & New Testament, Ecclesiology (study of the church) and lots more. All the topics are on our Topics page.
Is there any homework or assessments?
Throughout the month we offer you a variety of ways to engage and embed the learning. There are suggested readings, podcasts or videos for you to discover along with a glossary of theological vocabulary you’ll have been introduced to at the session. We will give you a question or two to consider which some students respond to with a short written essay. All of these elements are optional for students to help you solidify learning and enable you to work through what you believe about various theological topics
The Course runs out of The Light Church building and in each session you will hear from our teaching team, discuss the content with other students, ask questions and form friendships. Being at every session is a priority for our students as this is the best way to engage with the course. However, if you cannot make a session, they are all recorded so that you can catch up. You will also have the opportunity to meet with tutors, via Zoom, for tutorial time to discuss and process what you are learning.
